ACME Bicycle Company was developed in 2000 to meet the needs of the urban cyclist. ACME frames are of handbuilt steel construction. Either lugged or fillet-brazed, more than the materials is the attitude. ACME bicycles have attitude. ACME frames have room for fat ass tires. Looking to time-honored traditions--- because sometimes the old ways are still the best ways--- we incorporate the best of todays innovations in design, material, and engineering. Our aim is to build bikes that will be ridden hard and valued because they work brilliantly and they look beautiful. Each ACME frame is handcrafted one at a time. By a pair of craftswomen. Making beautiful functional bicycles for bicycle people. That's ACME Bicycle Company. Bicycle people. We don't play golf on weekends. Not because there's anything wrong with golf. But that's just not what we do. We ride our bicycles on weekends, and to work, and to the store and in our city. Your city. City riding and loaded touring are very different than road cycling. It takes a different breed of bicycle. That pretty plastic bike works well for its given application. But that plastic frame and those 23c tires just wont hold up to city riding and loaded touring. ACME bicycles will. Cause that's what they're designed for. For you, the urban rider/vagabond who demands much more from his/her bicycle than the weekend warrior road racer. You might even be that weekend warrior road racer but when it comes time to ride across the urban core to get to the office or warehouse, or factory or studio, or coffee shop or grocery store or library, you need a different tool and ACME bicycles are that tool. Each ACME bicycle is different because each one matches its owner's vision of the perfect go-everywhere, do-everything bicycle.

For the perfect compliment to your custom ACME frame, we offer custom built racks for whatever your needs may be. All racks are designed for the specific bicycle they will go on. These are not off-the-shelf production racks. They are made one at a time of the same quality materials and methods as our ACME frames.

Though we do offer custom racks for those who own other than ACME frames, we must have your frame/bicycle in house to build your rack(s).

Along with frame building and bicycle repair, ACME will continue bicycle advocacy work in the Kansas City metro area . We are in process of developing an education and resource center to implement this important work. Watch here as the hallmarks of the GREATER KANSAS CITY BICYCLE FEDERATION begin to emerge. We are at a crucial time throughout the nation regarding alternative transportation and we would like to help you get involved..
