what is it:
critical mass is a free fun bicycle ride that happens on the last friday of every month in different cities around
the world. its a wonderful bicycle party parade
that celebrates the freedom of traveling under your own power. it's also a movement to promote the bicycle as a
viable means of alternative transportation.
it's an open event that invites individuals to express themselves creatively socially
politically artistically vocally, to an audience of their friends neighbors coworkers and fellow citizens. its
a reclamation of space, suggesting the concept that our city belongs to people and not machines. kansas city's
mass usually explores the lively streets of westport midtown and the plaza. sometimes we head downtown and the
city market before heading back towards the start to hunt down food and spirits. the slowest rider determines the
pace(the point is to be there-not get anywhere). and often the youngest rider determines the route! this is a fun
friendly ride for all ages aimed at spreading bicycle-cheer throughout our community, across cultural and geographical
boundaries.
see you there
